Ten waves and an abyssal colossus, defended with four buildings on a wired power grid. Every structure conducts current, so where you put the relays decides what stays switched on.

Last Beacon (最后的灯塔) is a tower defense game about keeping one lighthouse lit through ten waves of machines coming in off the sea. What makes it different from most lawn-and-wave tower defense is that the towers are not independent: everything you place is wired into a power grid that runs back to the beacon, and the grid has a capacity. Overload it, or cut the chain of relays that carries current out to a far platform, and the guns at the end of that line stop firing.

It is bilingual — there is a 中 / EN switch in the header — and it runs locally in the browser with no account. Ten waves end in a fight with an abyssal colossus; if the lighthouse's integrity reaches zero before that, the run is over.

How to play Last Beacon

  1. Pick a building from the tray, then click an empty platform to place it. Keys 1 to 4 select the four buildings directly.
  2. There are four to choose from: the Sentinel turret for single targets, the Mortar for splash damage, the Frost tower to slow things down, and the Relay, which fires nothing but extends the grid to platforms the beacon cannot reach on its own.
  3. Watch the grid load counter next to the parts counter. Each building draws power, and you can spend parts on grid capacity between waves as well as on more guns.
  4. Waves do not start on a timer — you press start when your line is ready. Space pauses and resumes, Escape cancels a placement.
  5. The lighthouse integrity bar at the top is your health. Anything that gets past your line takes a bite out of it.

Why it's worth your time

The power grid is the whole design. In most tower defense games the map is a path and the towers are decorations along it; here the map is also a circuit, so a well-placed relay is worth as much as a gun, and losing one silences everything downstream. It is the rare browser tower defense where the second-order thinking is about wiring rather than damage numbers.

The author, stackloomdev, published the source and a written requirements brief alongside the game. Our copy is about 116 KB and loads instantly; it is a mouse game, with keyboard shortcuts, and the lawn-style grid is too small to work well on a phone.

How it was made and where it lives

Hosted on the author's own page. The author publishes as stackloomdev. Original: https://last-beacon.loupengju.cc/. The Play button above runs our own unmodified copy, so the game keeps working here if that page goes down — which on free hosting usually has nothing to do with the author. Nothing about the game itself is changed, and the original stays linked from every page.

If you like Last Beacon, try these

The other tower defense here is Garden Defenders, which is closer to the classic lane-and-lawn formula. If the resource-management side is what appeals, Hypoxia · Little Planet and Three Kingdoms Chronicles both make you balance a system rather than aim at things.
