One man's turmoil, one generation's realm. An offline-capable original turn-based strategy game about the life of a warlord in a fractured empire.
Three Kingdoms Chronicles (Rivers & Mountains III) is an original turn-based strategy game about the life of a single warlord in a fractured empire. Rather than commanding a whole faction from above, you follow one man's career: raise troops, hold territory, deal with rival lords, and try to turn a local power base into something that outlasts you.
It is offline-capable and runs in the browser from a Cloudflare Workers page published by amery2010. There is nothing to install and no account.
How to play Three Kingdoms Chronicles
- Each turn you choose actions for your character and holdings — recruiting, moving, negotiating or fighting — then end the turn to see how the map responds.
- Territory and troops are the two resources that matter most early. Losing a province is survivable; running out of soldiers is not.
- Read the event prompts. A lot of the game's flavour and its branching outcomes come from the choices they offer.
- A run is meant to be finished. When your warlord's generation ends, the game presents the outcome rather than letting you continue indefinitely, so it is worth playing through rather than restarting at the first setback.

Why it's worth your time
It is the largest game in the collection: our copy runs to about 380 files and 16 MB, nearly all of it painted character and city art. The original is hosted on a Cloudflare Workers page, which loads quickly from almost anywhere and has no usage quota to run out of — the failure mode that has taken another game in this collection offline.
It is an original design rather than a port of an existing Three Kingdoms title. The 'one warlord, one generation' framing means a run has a natural arc and ending instead of an open-ended conquest loop.
How it was made and where it lives
Hosted on a Cloudflare Workers page. The author publishes as amery2010. Original: https://sanguo-wind-cloud.amery2010.workers.dev/. The Play button above runs our own unmodified copy, so the game keeps working here if that page goes down — which on free hosting usually has nothing to do with the author. Nothing about the game itself is changed, and the original stays linked from every page.
If you like Three Kingdoms Chronicles, try these
The other strategy titles here are Garden Defenders, a real-time tower defense, and Migratory, a player-versus-player model battler (currently offline). Three Kingdoms Chronicles is the only one of the three that is turn-based and the only one built around a single character's life rather than a match.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this related to Romance of the Three Kingdoms?
- It uses the same historical setting but is an original, independently made game, not part of any commercial series.
- Can I play offline?
- Yes, once loaded it does not need a network connection.
- Is it in English?
- No — the interface, the events and the character names are all in Chinese. There is no language switch.
- Does the two-player mode work here?
- No. The co-op mode calls the author's own server, which our copy cannot reach. Use the original site for that; single-player works fully here.
- Is Three Kingdoms Chronicles free to play?
- Yes. Everything on Floating Arcade is free, with no account, ads or downloads.
- Can I embed this game on my own website?
- Yes — copy the snippet below. The embedded player links back here, which is how we ask to be credited.
