Six Van Gogh paintings — The Bedroom, Cafe Terrace at Night, Starry Night Over the Rhone, Wheatfield with Crows, Sunflowers — joined into one continuous town you can walk through, each keeping its own colour and light.
Van Gogh Town joins six Van Gogh paintings into a single continuous place you can walk through: The Bedroom in Arles, Café Terrace at Night, Starry Night Over the Rhône, Wheatfield with Crows and Sunflowers, plus the town that connects them. Step out of one canvas and the next one is down the road.
The trick it pulls off is that each painting keeps its own colour and its own light while sharing one geography, so walking between them feels like changing weather rather than loading a new level. There is a lighting control that shifts the whole town a little earlier or a little later in the day.
How to play Van Gogh Town
- Move with the keyboard and look with the mouse, the way you would in any first-person scene.
- Walk between the six locations — they are laid out as one continuous town rather than a menu of scenes.
- Use the lighting control to move the hour: evening light, the painting's own light, or somewhere between.
- There is a brushstroke setting (light, balanced, rich) that changes how heavily the paint texture is applied to distant geometry. Turn it down if the frame rate suffers.

Why it's worth your time
The interesting choice is the refusal to average the palettes. It would have been easier to pick one colour treatment for the whole town; instead each painting's own colour survives inside a shared world, which is why the joins are the best part of it.
It is hosted on a static host by Peter Gostev and runs from a handful of files, about 1.4 MB in our copy. It expects a keyboard and mouse — there is no touch control scheme.
How it was made and where it lives
Hosted on the author's own page. The author publishes as petergostev. Original: https://van-goghs-town.surge.sh/. The Play button above runs our own unmodified copy, so the game keeps working here if that page goes down — which on free hosting usually has nothing to do with the author. Nothing about the game itself is changed, and the original stays linked from every page.

Gogh Strike is a shooter built in this same town by the same author, if you would rather do something in the paintings than look at them. For another artwork rebuilt as a place, see Into the Painting · Bianjing.
