Type 2–8 characters and turn their shapes into a bridge. Watch a bicycle, truck, bus, dump truck, road roller, elephant, tank and house cross it in sequence, and see how many make it across.

Kotoba Bridge, originally ことば橋, turns a word into a physical bridge. Type between two and eight characters, press Build bridge, and each glyph becomes part of a rough, uneven span under the weight of a parade of vehicles and animals.

The challenge is wonderfully legible: a bicycle goes first, then a light truck, route bus, dump truck, road roller, elephant, tank and finally a whole house. This local English translation keeps the original physics and presentation while translating the controls and explanatory text.

How to play ことば橋 · Kotoba Bridge

  1. Enter a word between 2 and 8 characters in the input field. Japanese words are the intended input, though the game accepts the characters it can render.
  2. Press Build bridge. Your typed characters become the bridge deck.
  3. Watch each crossing in order: bicycle, light truck, route bus, dump truck, road roller, elephant, tank and house.
  4. See how many crossings the bridge survives. Use Replay to watch the same bridge again, or try another word with different letter shapes.

Controls: Enter 2–8 characters, then press 橋をかける (Build bridge). On the game screen, use the page's replay and stop controls.

Click Fullscreen above the game for the largest play area. If the game does not load, use Open in new tab to play it directly from our copy.

Why it's worth your time

The game's central idea is unusually transparent: the input is not a hidden seed for a score table, but the visible geometry of the bridge itself. Each word therefore creates a small physical experiment.

The sequence escalates from a bicycle to a house, making the result easy to understand even without reading every Japanese label. A weak bridge can fail early, while a sturdier-looking arrangement gets to the heavier tests.

The original page was updated to version 1.1.2 on 9 October 2026 and includes replay, stopping and shared-result links. Its footer credits Three.js and Matter.js under their respective open-source licences.
