An automatically scrolling garden runner starring a cat. Time variable-height jumps and a second airborne hop to clear flowerbeds and collect bells as the yard speeds up.

The fever has broken and the cat wants the whole garden. Yard Chase is a compact side-scrolling runner: the garden moves automatically, flowerbeds interrupt the path, and hanging bells reward well-timed jumps.

The important control is not just pressing Jump. Holding gives the first leap more height, while a second press in the air spends the remaining hop. Decide whether to save that hop for a tall bed or use it to reach a bell.

This is the actual self-hosted English browser build, not footage or a recreation. The original dark film-grain artwork and game rules are preserved. The unrelated outer portal is not the game player.

How to play Yard Chase

  1. Click Begin to start. The cat runs automatically; use Space or Up to jump. Hold the key for height, release it, then press again while airborne to spend your second jump.
  2. On a phone, use the Jump control or tap the game picture. A second tap while airborne triggers the second hop. The HUD changes between grounded, one jump left and no jumps left.
  3. Clear the flowerbeds and collect bells above the path. Your score grows with distance and collected bells. When the run ends, use the original retry control for another attempt.

Controls: Click Begin. Hold Space or Up to jump higher, release, then press again in the air to double-jump. On touch screens use Jump; tapping the picture also jumps.

Click Fullscreen above the game for the largest play area. If the game does not load, use Open in new tab to play it directly from our copy.

Why it's worth your time

The complete captured game scripts and fonts are local. Original-host Netlify telemetry is removed rather than sending catalog visitors to the creator’s tracking quota.

Actual desktop and touch inputs both produced grounded → one jump left → no jumps left. The desktop test score rose10-to68, and the portrait touch test6-to52; these are short-run checks, not all-obstacle or record-score claims.

The game uses a subdued garden palette, grain and optional projector presentation. This is intentional original styling, not a missing video or blank placeholder.

How it was made and where it lives

Hosted on the author's own page. The author publishes as The Sick Kitten (@thesickkitten). Original: https://thesickkitten.com/workshop/yard-chase/. Actual English self-hosted game-only browser build. Runtime scripts and fonts are local; injected original-host telemetry is removed. Keyboard and390px touch double-jump inputs were verified against original jump HUD states and score changes. This is not a video or a recreated runner.
