A tactile browser time attack where typed letters become chunky blue 3D solids. Hammer weak points with rapid taps, carve through the material with flick gestures, and blast every surviving fragment off the stage for the fastest clear.
Word Break, originally presented as 言葉を破壊するゲーム, makes typography physical. Type up to three characters and the canvas turns each one into a thick blue solid standing on the arena floor. Your goal is not merely to damage it but to erase its recognisable shape as quickly as possible.
Two gestures share the work. Taps drive cracks into dense sections and build attack power; flicks draw a cutting line through the sampled material. A blade can stop when the section is too strong, so the useful rhythm is to hammer a stubborn area first and then slice through its weakened path. Mixing the two attacks raises a short-lived combo that makes the finishing cut stronger.
The local version translates the Japanese interface, effects, results and accessibility labels into English and supplies three-letter English presets. It is an unofficial, non-commercial mirror. The original page does not name an author, so the listing credits the original URL without turning its Cloudflare hostname into an invented creator name.
How to play Word Break
- Enter one to three letters, or choose a preset such as JOB, TAX or BUG, then press Start.
- Tap directly on a solid letter to add cracks. Repeated hits increase the temporary combo power and weaken tougher material around the impact.
- Flick a line across the letter to cut it. If the blade stops, tap around the blocked point and try the cut again.
- Alternate hits and slices to trigger a mixed combo. Separated pieces fall, bounce and can be cut again until each character loses its original silhouette.
- Clear all letters to stop the timer. The report records cuts, hits, rank, clear time and a personal best for that exact input.
Controls: Enter one to three letters and press Start. Tap a letter repeatedly to crack and weaken it, then flick across it to slice. Combining hits with a cut boosts the combo. Destroy the recognisable shape of every letter as quickly as possible.

Why it's worth your time
The letters are not canned break animations. The browser rasterises the chosen glyph, samples its visible material and constructs pieces that can be split along the player's gesture. That lets different words produce genuinely different shapes and weak points.
Cuts respect material thickness. A fast flick through an untouched dense section may leave a notch and a blocked-blade message instead of dividing the polygon. Cracks increase local weakness, making the next slice more effective and giving taps a strategic purpose beyond visual feedback.
Presentation reinforces impact through squash, launch trails, hit-stop, screen shake, sparks and browser-generated sound. Once the last meaningful piece is destroyed, the remains blast off-screen before the report compares the intact word with its fragments.
Personal bests are keyed by the entered word and stored in the browser. There is no account, leaderboard or score upload in the mirrored scripts, so replaying a favourite target remains a private local challenge.
How it was made and where it lives
Hosted on a Cloudflare Workers page. The author publishes as Uncredited on the original page. Original: https://word-hakai.kskdazegames.workers.dev/. The Play button runs an unofficial, non-commercial English mirror. Interface text, combat feedback, results and sample inputs are translated while the original canvas geometry, physics, timing and local records remain intact. The original and takedown contact stay visible.
Frequently asked questions
- Why did my flick stop?
- The section was too strong or thick. Tap near the blocked point to add cracks and weakness, then flick through it again.
- What counts as finishing a letter?
- The engine measures how much of each original glyph remains connected and recognisable. Keep breaking and launching the larger pieces until every character is cleared.
- Can I enter English words?
- Yes, up to three characters. The English mirror starts with JOB and includes short Latin-letter presets that render through the same canvas glyph system.
- Is this an official translation?
- No. It is an unofficial, non-commercial English mirror with links to the Japanese original and a takedown contact; it does not claim endorsement or permission.
- Who made Word Break?
- The inspected original page does not identify an author. This page therefore describes it as uncredited and names the hosting domain only as the location of the original.
- Does it send my words or scores anywhere?
- No network behaviour appears in the game scripts. Inputs and per-word best times remain in your browser's local storage.
- Is Word Break free to play?
- Free to play. This English mirror is unofficial and non-commercial; the original page does not identify its author.
- Can I embed this game on my own website?
